6 Must Have Travel Apps For Your Next Trip

dsc_0611

The technological and digital age has brought forth countless number of travel apps with each being made to cater to a certain need or purpose. Travel apps are dime a dozen but here are a few of many favourite apps that aid in planning my trips and saving costs. What’s more these Apps are free and easy to use.

  • Kayak

If you have been following my blog for sometime then am pretty sure you know the love I have for kayak. Kayak is a fare aggregate and search engine for flights and accommodation. It provides flight fare and accommodation comparison of hundreds of travel sites, airlines and hotels to give you the most affordable and pocket friendly options. Through Kayak I have been able to find the cheapest flight options for most of my travels.

  • XE Currency Converter

If you are a budget traveller then keeping your finances in check is a major priority. XE is an amazing option, it’s free and its conversions are live and up to date. You can easily compare prices if you want to buy something or pay for food, a service or good. It is also quite easy to use and can convert up to 9 currencies at once.

  • Google Translate

It pretty easy to feel lost in a foreign country especially where there is a language barrier. However, thanks to Google Translate you can feel more confident. Google Translate supports 103 languages. I usually use it for phrases or words that I may come across especially in train stations and museums. However, due to the increasing number of travellers and use of English most destinations tend to have english translations affixed next to dialect of the nation.

  • Uber

I seldom use taxis or car services when I travel, I prefer doing it like a local and using trains, subways and buses. This allows me to have a personal interaction with the destination. However, there are situations when an Uber can literally save your life :-), maybe you’re about to miss your flight and its the best option you’ve got. Don’t be shy just download it, you may never know when you will need to use it.

  • Skype and Whatsapp

These apps are simply amazing. They help with communicating with family and friends while away. We all know international calls are very expensive and these apps give us great alternatives to keep in touch with loved ones.

  • Weather

Planning a trip has a lot to do with the activities that one wishes to do in a given destination. Weather is a major part because it helps us dress right for the occasion and choose suitable activities. This app helps to plan your day while travelling.
