Happy New Year friends! I know, I know 🙂 what a stretch right? Considering we are two days away from nearing the end of January and the Christmas countdown officially begins yet again. I really do hope you had a fantastic christmas with your loved ones; friends or family and that you ushered in the new year with a renewed sense of optimism for the possibilities 2017 may present.
As you may have noticed, I have been on a three month hiatus from the blog. Quite a shame really but sometimes in life, you just have to stop and re-evaluate your purpose and sense of direction. Personally, towards the end of last year I was plagued with uncertainty as to the direction of my life especially in my personal and career life. I left that I was drowning in a sea of uncertainty and I was ailing from the much dreaded quarter life crisis that often times plagues most of us in our twenties. The ailment comes in when you start comparing your life’s achievements to your peers who seem to have their lives under control. I too, like most of you compare myself to other people. A reminder to us all; nobody’s life is perfect and underneath the success of the peer you are comparing yourself to, is an individual with their fair share of struggles. As Bonang Matheba said in a talk she gave about success a few years back, people maybe seem to have it all figured out but underneath it all is perseverance. She equated it to the beauty of a duck gliding in water effortlessly but underneath all that beauty is some serious paddling.
Lessons to myself and to you my friends is mastering the art of patience, persistence, contentment and drive. We must remember that; we have have different lives, goals and a ultimately a different purpose and with that said it is monumental that we realise that the pace at which we attain our life’s goals will evidently be different.
I just thought, I slide in my personal thoughts before I resume the normal travel posts. I hope that you take the journey with me this year as we explore and find affordable and budget friendly deals for travel.
